"One Month" as Defined by the American Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP)
|
Have you ever wondered what the difference is between four weeks and one month when referring to the ACIP minimum interval table for vaccine administration? Does a one month minimum interval mean 28 days? 30 days? 31 days?
The newly revised ACIP Recommendation statement on Measles, Mumps, and Rubella defines one month as a "minimum of 28 days." (MMWR, 1998; 47:No.RR-8.)
Copies of the new MMWR Recommendation statement (or any ACIP statement) can be downloaded from CDC's website at www.cdc.gov/epo/mmwr/mmwr.html. You can also request a free electronic subscription to MMWR at this site. Or, call CDC's Immunization Hotline at 800.232.2522.
