Dear Todd,

Thank you for your response. The collection of prescribing information that
I am referring to is done by pharmacies and "health information
organizations" that license the data to the pharmaceutical industry. Please
see the Physician Data Restriction Program (PDRP) brochure for more
information on this process:
http://www.ama-assn.org/ama1/pub/upload/mm/432/pdrp_brochure.pdf

I emailed Carolyn Hutcherson of the *American College of Nurse Practitioners
* per your suggestion. Unfortunately I have not heard back from her. Nor
have I heard back from representatives of other nursing organizations on the
list of those I have emailed, including the *American Nurses
Association*, *American
Academy of Nurse Practitioners *and the *Maine Nurse Practitioners
Association*.

Do you have any suggestions about who else might be a good point of contact
on this issue?

As a reminder of what I am talking about here, my original email is below.

Thank you

Emil Bukher, PMH-NP

The American Medical Association allows physicians to restrict access to
their prescribing data: http://www.ama-assn.org/ama/pub/category/12054.html
They offer physicians protection of privacy from pharmaceutical interests
and pharmaceutical sales reps. What are the American Academy of Nurse
Practitioners, the American Nurses Association and the American Nurses
Credentialing Center doing to protect Nurse Practitioners' prescribing data?
How can we opt out of having our prescribing data released to pharmaceutical
sales representatives? Thank you in advance for any information you can
provide and any comments you can offer.
