My dear NP colleagues,

As this National Nurse Practitioner Week draws to a close, I want to honor
you all for being nurse practitioners. It doesn't matter how you do
it-whether you are politically active, whether you are independent practice
or choose to be in a delegated practice or if you are still under
supervision. It doesn't matter if you are a crone, student, expert or
newbie. It doesn't matter where you practice or whether you are a clinician,
educator or administrator. It doesn't matter how much money you make. None
of these reflect who you are. What is important is that you provide health
care to the people in Maine and that you as an individual nurse practitioner
touch every patient in a unique nursing based way. If your practices or
colleagues haven't honored you this week, if you have been too busy to
reflect on how special you are, take a minute to do so. Be proud of what you
do. You are great! You are Nurse Practitioner!
