[Maine-NPs] letter of supervision

Dear Fellow NPs:

For the past 6 months I have had an ongoing discussion with the
administration of the medical group where I work. Although I have 10 years
experience as an NP they are requiring that I have a letter of supervision.
They say they want to maximize their reimbursement and because some
insurance companies reimburse less for my patient encounters if I practice
independently, they are requiring the supervision letter. I have tried to
argue the point that they are already paying me considerably less than they
do a physician so if some of the reimbursement is less, they are still
making money. They don't buy that argument, thinking I should want what's
best for the organization. Has anybody successfully won this argument? If
so, what were your convincing points?

Thanks,

Susan Roberts
