Gosh-- glad you said it first, Debi-- I was going to write the exact same thing but was biting my tongue and sitting on my right hand at the same time! Not only do I question the ethical issues involved, I also have to wonder about where Evidence-Based Practice fits into all of this.

              Hello Everyone:

Does anyone have any suggestions/advice on how I may safely proceed in the matter of recommending nutritional/herbal supplements to clients who may already be on prescription medications that have been prescribed by other providers?
I am an Independent Distributor for an Internet company that offers health and wellness products; I am also a new NP who is seeking to start her own practice & I wish to combine the two. I would of course advise my clients that they must inform their own PCPs of the addition of herbal supplements to their daily regimen, but I think we all know, that pts. often don’t reveal such information to their providers. I want to protect the safety of my pts., yet I must protect myself legally as well.
I am thankful for any advice from you seasoned professionals.
