My original post was to EVERYONE on the list to remind them that this is a professional listserve with people from varying backgrounds participating and to please refrain from posting personal religious and political beliefs online where it is inappropriate. Not an unreasonable request in light of all the rules of netiquette on other professional listserves. That is ALL I wrote. You are certainly free to delete any and all of my posts-- I could care less. Frankly, it's just not that darn important to me <G>. My feelings aren't hurt in the least....

Dena,
Can you let it go? Your response to the new comer in a public response
is what started this to begin with, s you chastised her in a public
response rather than doing it privately. I know to just delete any
responses you make in the future.

There are numerous health care providers who deliberately or unwittingly
unrelentlessly proselytize to their patients, often in subtle ways such
as
verbalizing religion based quotes or offering prayer for someone's
difficulties (a kind gesture which I appreciate). But, it is compelling
that
we support the ethic that in a society based on secular respect for
others
beliefs this may not be appropriate, especially in areas/populations
which
are medically underserved.
