Hello all,
I have just given my notice in to a family practice that has "borrowed" my retirement (including my contribution) {since has returned it}, can't pay for their immunizations so I have girls with one gardasil under their belt and can't get more at our office, they bought a brand new Dexa (full table) and an EMR and are doing Dexas one day a week. Noone including the primary Doc is extremely computer savy. Bought into a nerve conduction machine and can't afford the sensors to perform the test.
OK now here's the question part: I am starting fresh in a hospital owned practice with a wonderful collaborator (well respected, nice guy unless he's really mad and enjoys practicing medicine) - my goal is to keep the use of pain meds down to a minimum. I prefer to not treat chronic back pain as I seem to get these drug seekers. I would rather avoid a pain contract because I don't want to treat chronic pain. I know it will probably be inevitable with some conditions. But does someone have a practice policy that elimnates or reduces this issue. Or am I daydreaming again. I'm in NY and providers in my area seem to be under scrutiny and I would like to fly under the radar.
Thanks
Teresa

My son and future daughter in law are moving to cocoa beach (air force). I was hoping someone on the list who knew the area could email me so that I might ask some questions.(good and reasonable priced areas to live, etc)
