[NP-Clinical] Breast CA question

Just a personal question for any oncology folks.  A friend was in remission
for just over 5 yrs.  She had back pain last Summer and was set up with PT
and NSAID’s.  It kept worsening so low and behold, bone scan showed ca
recurrence in several bony sites.
Is there any hope at all these days once this happens?  I hear lots on new
drugs but last I read, this didn’t have a good prognosis.  Any stories for
hope out there for her?  A real heartbreaker- - got the news over the phone
the week before Christmas.   I was surprised they did this.  She was all
alone in her office and someone went looking for her and found her sobbing
in a dark room.
Thanks for any info.  Oncology is not my area.
