Let me tell you though, in the wrong hands this thing can hurt like hell.
Having been on the receiving end  of this very thing recently, I found out
quickly it is not an intuitive device for all, apparently! OUCH! 

We had a "sit down and come to learn how to irrigate" session IMMEDIATELY!!

We use a device called an Elephant ear for irrigating. Basically it's a big
Windex bottle with a catheter on the end. Much easier than the syringe and
less risky than the water pick. Someone on this list years ago turned us
onto it and it's worked great.
