If no one already suggested: if you have a teaching hospital in your area,
they often will take on pts with no insurance. Contact their ortho clinic or
one of the hospital's social workers and go from there. Even if the care
isn't free, the cost may be substantially reduced (sliding scale fee) based
on his proof of income (or lack thereof).

Check for a free clinic in your area - sometimes they are associated with a
church. or check with vocational rehab since he has an injury that hinders
his work.
