Once cannot go with a set figure! You have to consider what other NPs in
your area are making. I'd be selling myself way short at $80-90K in my area
but would probably be laughed at and thrown out on my rear if I asked for
that in certain rural areas I've worked in. Know what others are making and
always ask a bit more than that. Also you need to keep in mind it's a new
practice, patients may be very few and far between at first so the employer
may not be so enthusiastic over the idea of shelling out a lot of money at
first. I'd go with a reasonable lower figure at first with salary
evaluations every 6 months for the first 2 years as the practice grows. Past
studies have shown that it takes about 2 years for a new practice to start
making any profit-- right?

Congratulations, Paula, on this opportunity!!!  I know how hard you have
worked to find a job like this. IMHO you are selling yourself short if you
are asking for $70-75,000/year salary. You have so many skills to bring to
this practice - adult Western medicine practice, your CAM skills, and
phlebotomy skills are a real asset!!! You should be starting out at at least
a minimum of $80-90,000/year salary!!  Don't sell yourself short; I once
heard a nurse consultant tell us in a seminar that people equate your worth
with the amount you charge...something to think about.
