Bone scan will not be much help. In areas of concern, get MRI.

He needs to have a bone scan anyway because the plain films weren't able to
tell whether the compressions in some of the vertebrae looked like fractures
or physiologic changes based, probably, on his scoliosis.

I've certainly learned a bit about myeloma this week, Teresa.  Glad your
husband is a role model.  there's a woman in my writing workshop (through a
cancer org) with it who's also had it for many years and does pretty darn
well.
