Children's Specialists of San Diego, Nurse Practioner-PER DIEM

The Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive direct patient care 
management of pediatric
patients with consultation, collaboration and general supervision 
from a Pediatrician. The NP
functions as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team and 
provides a wide range of
patient services covering new and current pediatric patients at 
Palomar Hospital, filling a
hospitalist role for NICU and peds patients. This positions requires 
evaluation of general
pediatric patients, normal newborns and acute Level 2 NICU newborns. 
May be asked to
attend some newborn deliveries. Exercises independent judgment in the physical
assessment, diagnosis and initiation of certain delegated medical 
processes and procedures
by utilizing the extensive knowledge of the nursing process, 
scientific reasoning,
pathophysiology, pharmacology and physiology. Maintains some 
responsibility for family
education, consultation, clinical support, and discharge planning. 
Night and weekend hours
required. May require in-house nights as well. 3-10 shifts per month. 
In some cases, Call can
be taken from home. Minimum requirements include: Current California 
RN and NP license,
current PAL/NRP certification, some prior experience and strong 
customer service/
