Pediatric Nurse Practitioner for Hematology/Oncology Practice

'Specially for Children is a 22-physician pediatric sub-specialty 
practice located in Austin,
Texas, and is part of the Seton Healthcare Network. The 
Hematology/Oncology practice at
SFC is looking for a certified pediatric nurse practitioner to 
develop and coordinate a new
survivorship program. The CPNP will practice in collaboration with 
the supervising physician
to provide medical management for pediatric oncology patients who 
have been off treatment
for 2+ years. The CPNP will also be responsible for creating a 
community outreach program
to identify, educate and support cancer survivors. This is a new 
position that will require a
highly motivated, creative and experienced person to develop a 
comprehensive late effects
program.

The Lance Armstrong Foundation has recently provided funding to the 
Children's Hospital of
Austin for a LIVESTRONG Survivorship Center (not a member of the 
LIVESTRONG Survivorship
Center of Excellence Network). Thanks to a generous donation from The 
Michael & Susan Dell
Foundation, CHOA is in the process of getting a brand new hospital 
built, which will be called
the Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas. Here is a link

In addition, the hospital system (Seton) that Children's is a part of 
has recently signed a 30
year agreement with the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in 
Galveston, which will
allow for greater research and training opportunities for the 
LIVESTRONG Survivorship Center
down the road.

The ideal candidate must be a certified pediatric nurse practitioner 
with prescriptive authority
and at least 2 years of oncology experience as a registered nurse in 
an acute care facility.
Current and unrestricted Texas RN license, current Texas Advanced 
Practice Nurse Certification,
Chemotherapy or Pediatric Oncology Nurse Certification, and PALS are 
also required.
