Advanced Practice Nurse
Methodist Specialty Transplant Hospital
Heart Transplant (Department)

Current license as a Professional Registered Nurse in the State of 
Texas. Current recognition
as an Advanced Practice Nurse in the State of Texas. Current 
Prescriptive authority in the
State of Texas (BNE prescriptive ID, DPS and DEA). Master's degree in 
nursing and
specialization in appropriate area for transplant program. Acute Care 
License required.

Functions independently in lieu of the physician and collaboratively 
as an expert clinician,
educator, consultant, researcher and leader in nursing practice. In 
addition, initiates medical
aspects of care under protocols jointly developed with the Program 
Director or designee and
is responsible to him/her for the specific program/area of practice. 
Clinical performance will
be reviewed on an annual basis by the Medical Director.

Minimum of three years of nursing experience in the area of clinical 
focus. Previous
experience as an Advanced Practice Nurse is required. Previous 
transplant experience
desired. Previous experience in teaching desired. Solid background in 
critical care with a
focus in cardiac/cardiothoracic surgery patient populations. Previous 
experience with heart
transplantation and ventricular assist device therapy preferred.
