Nurse Practitioner (Critical Care)

An immediate opportunity is available at Brigham and Women's Hospital 
(BWH), located in
Boston, for a Nurse Practitioner in the Neuro ICU. This is a 
full-time day shift position with
no weekends.

With over 700
inpatient beds, BWH is internationally known for its treatment of 
complex disorders in areas
such as cardiac care, cancer care, cancer treatment, neuroscience, 
orthopedics and arthritis,
and Women's Health.

Our 20-bed Neuroscience unit is committed to supporting nursing 
excellence through
collaborative practice and multiple educational opportunities. Our 
MRI operative suite was the
first of its kind in the world, allowing physicians to perform 
operative procedures that had
never been attempted before.

This position will provide direct care, counseling, and teaching to a 
select patient population.
You will perform physical examinations and provide preventive health 
measures, orders,
interprets, and evaluates appropriate lab and diagnostic tests to 
assess patients' clinical
problems and health care needs. In addition, you will set priorities 
for appropriate and efficient
management of patient care that reflects cost-effective management of 
time, available human
resources, supplies and equipment. Furthermore, you will maintain an 
interdisciplinary
approach to planning and communicating patient care information by 
discussing patient data
with appropriate physicians and other health care professionals.

To qualify, you must have a Master's Degree in Nursing; must be 
licensed to practice nursing
in the state of Massachusetts ANA or other appropriate nursing 
certification in an area of
practice. Authorization by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in 
Nursing to practice in
the advanced practice role; DEA approval and number for prescription 
is necessary. Critical
Care experienced and NP Neuroscience ICU experience is required. 
Prior experience as a
nurse practitioner preferred. Previous leadership experience with 
demonstrated management
ability required.
