Ohio - Nurse Practitioner Position (posted) 04-30-09

The Nurse Practitioner, practicing under the supervision of an
approved physician, is
responsible for the development, coordination, implementation, and
management of
psychiatric and medical (as they pertain to psychiatric) services of
consumers receiving
medication within any service delivery area.
Typical Duties:
1 Provides psychiatric screening, assessment and diagnosis of
psychiatric conditions
(psychiatric evaluation), with supervising physician's review.
2 Reviews, prescribes, dispenses, and administers medication
(including psychotropic
injections) using least restrictive medication treatment modalities.
3 Assesses possibility of co-existing medical conditions, orders and
monitors medical
consultation, oversees referrals and coordination of physical health needs.
4 Provides and monitors the development, coordination, and
implementation of psychiatric
services identified in person-centered treatment plans.
5 Participates in the development, implementation and monitoring of
treatment plans and
discharges from services.
6 Prescribes and interprets labs; conducts, screens, and interprets
A.I.M.S. testing; orders
and monitors other types of services.
7 Provides crisis intervention, recommends inpatient and residential
settings as needed.
8 Conducts training/educational programs to consumers and staff in
use, purpose, benefits,
and risk of prescribed medication.
9 Monitors medication side effects, drug interactions, and allergic reactions.
10 Assesses, monitors, and coordinates health and safety needs of consumer.
11 Provides liaison for with community physicians, hospital staff,
and other professionals and
agencies with regard to psychiatric services.
12 Provides accurate and timely documentation of all pertinent records.
13 Provides team consultation, support, and education.
14 Participates in utilization review of charts as requested.
15 Provides input to Management Team, as requested, on review of such
areas as utilization
review, risk management, sentinel events and environment of care.
16 Promotes staff, consumer, family and community understanding and
education of mental
health issues.
