TRANSPLANT COORDINATOR/NURSE PRACTITIONER

CARDIAC TRANSPLANT PROGRAM

Rush University Medical Center, located in Chicago, Illinois, is an 
academic, research
medical center that encompasses a 613-bed hospital serving adults and 
children, the 61-bed
Johnston R. Bowman Geriatric - Rehabilitation Health Center and Rush 
University.

As a Nurse Practitioner, you will assist the heart failure physicians 
and transplant surgeons to
implement and evaluate a program of specialized health care for a 
select group of advanced
heart failure patients. Coordinate care of patients requiring 
outpatient inotropic therapy. Provide
direct care including specialized procedures, physical assessments, 
evaluations and patient
education. Document physical assessment findings, medical histories, 
risk stratification and
plans of care. Serve as the surgeons' liaison for organ and tissue 
donations, ensuring
excellent communication and data collection in a timely manner. 
Assist in stabilizing acutely ill
patients in clinic situations. Schedule biopsies, yearly evaluations, 
and operating room and
transportation arrangements for the Surgical Recovery team.

A Master's degree in Nursing, current Illinois RN licensure and five 
years of post-baccalaureate
experience in acute care with cardiac patients required. New 
graduates from an accredited NP
program with heart transplant and/or heart failure experience will 
also be considered.
Professional certification as an acute care or adult nurse 
practitioner, ACLS provider
certification and CPR certification also required. Excellent 
communication and problem solving
skills are a must.
