Nurse Practitioner Acute Care – Cardiology

Banner Thunderbird Medical Center is one of the

hospital will add 188 beds with the completion of 
a new patient tower, emergency department
and expansion of all major service lines. Banner

Banner Thunderbird Medical Center, located in 
Glendale, AZ, is seeking an experienced Nurse
Practitioner-Acute Care for our Cardiology Service Area.

Duties and Responsibilities
This position provides advanced nursing care in 
the acute-care setting to meet the specialized
physiologic and psychological needs of inpatients 
with complex acute, critical and chronic health
conditions.

Additional responsibilities include:
* Provides formal and informal educational 
opportunities for staff with specific emphasis to
practice specialty.
* Identifies opportunities for improvement and 
works with team members to develop a plan and
implement improvements.
* Oversees and/or participates in direct patient 
care through assessment, diagnosis and
outcome evaluation.
* In consultation with physician, the ACNP 
facilitates obtaining admission orders and provides a
comprehensive history and physical with specific 
emphasis to the practice specialty.
* Provides appropriate medications and therapies 
and monitors them for toxicities and efficacy
throughout their course of treatment.
* Performs therapeutic interventions to stabilize 
acute and critical health problems, such as
suturing, wound debridement, line and tube insertion, and lumbar puncture.

Requirements:
* Licensed as a registered nurse in the state of 
Arizona; current Acute Care Adult Nurse
Practitioner Certification in specialty in the state of Arizona.
* Masters degree in nursing required with a 
minimum of five years of clinical expertise working
with the patient population.
* Demonstrates proficiency in computer applications and database management.
* Experience in CVICU/post operative care
* 2 years as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner in CVICU highly preferred.
