Nurse Practitioner / Physicians Assistant

Coastal Carolina University seeks applications for the following 
position: Clinical Medical Care
Provider (at the level of Nurse Practitioner III or Physicians 
Assistant) in the Department of
Student Health Services.

Duties
Serving as a clinical medical care provider for students in the 
University community, this position
will provide health care for individuals including health education 
in accordance with statutes,
regulations and protocols regulating the profession. Provides acute 
health care to students;
performs medical assessments; obtains medical histories; performs 
physical examinations;
maintains confidentiality of student records and health information; 
promotes disease
prevention; manages medical care for some stable chronic illnesses; 
provides patients with
information regarding procedures, medicines, risks, or benefits that 
may be involved in
treatments; manages medical compliance to include OSHA regulations, 
credentialing, nursing
competencies, and quality assurance.

Requirements
Nurse Practitioner: requires a master's degree in nursing; SC license 
as a registered nurse
with recognition as an advanced practice RN (nurse practitioner) by 
the SC Board of Nursing.

Physician Assistant: requires a bachelor's degree in a science or 
health related field and a
diploma from an accredited Physician Assistant Program. Requires 
certification by the National
Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Must be 
licensed by the SC Board
of Medical Examiners.

Required to conduct business lawfully and ethically by consistently 
adhering to compliance and
privacy policies, procedures and regulations. Minimum of 5 years of 
clinical experience is
required.

Other Qualifications
Experience in a clinical setting within higher education is 
preferred. Candidate should also
possess extensive knowledge of physical assessment, differential 
diagnosis, pathophysiology,
pharmacology and management of acute chronic patient issues; strong 
gynecology skills;
substantial interpersonal skills necessary to educate students and 
collaborate with other health
care providers; ability to establish and maintain effective working 
relationships with faculty, staff,
students and the general public.
