Nurse Practitioner – Hospital Internal Medicine

Mayo Clinic, in Rochester, MN invites you to 
consider a rewarding career as a Nurse Practitioner
in the Department of Hospital Internal Medicine. 
The NP will work collaboratively with the
Hospitalist consultant to deliver medical care to 
hospitalized patients. The focus of the NP
includes providing primary care to complex 
medical patients and consulting on orthopedic
surgical patients requiring preanesthesia 
evaluation and post operative management of
medical comorbidities. A high level of autonomy 
is expected. The NP will work with the care
team in coordinating discharge planning and 
facilitate the patient’s transfer of care back to the
primary provider. The NP will consult and make 
referrals to physicians and other members of
the health care team as appropriate. There is a 
significant educational component to the
position consisting of teaching and counseling 
individual patients and families as well as
educating/mentoring allied health practitioners in training.

To qualify, you must be a masters prepared 
graduate of an accredited school of nursing and
Nurse Practitioner program. Current Minnesota RN 
license and certification, or eligible to be
certified as an ACNP, ANP, or FNP. Minimum of 
three years’ experience in the care of medical
and/or surgical inpatients preferred. Strong 
written and oral communication skills are required
and must have demonstrated skill in working 
collaboratively with all members of the healthcare
team.
