Nurse Practitioner

Memorial Hospital has a new and exciting opportunity for an NP to join our
Trauma Services Team in providing comprehensive care to patients of all
ages. This is a full time position, 7 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Some
responsibilities include:

SUMMARY
The trauma nurse practitioner, under the supervision/ collaboration of the
trauma medical director and trauma program director will work within the
patient care units of the hospital which can include but are not limited
to the ER, ICU, and OR, providing comprehensive care to trauma patients of
all age groups. Duties include but are not limited to;

1. Patient care:
* The trauma nurse practitioner will be expected to work independently and
in collaboration with the attending trauma surgeon or other attendees to
provide optimal care to the trauma patient. This would include daily
independent rounding, diagnosing, ordering tests and therapies,
interpretation of these results and follow through with other disciplines.
* Attendance at daily trauma service meeting is required to interact with
the trauma service coordinators, social work, and registrar.
* Attendance at weekly trauma rounds, ortho rounds and ICU rounds to
coordinate care with other disciplines will be required.
* Collegiality amongst staff is essential in performance of these duties
and the ability to work within the team setting is mandatory.
* Assisting floor staff with all aspects of care to the trauma patient.
* Act as a resource to floor staff and physicians.
* Response to trauma activations will be according to availability and
need. Weekend, evening and night coverage may be necessary to provide
coverage for the trauma population.
* On-call responsibilities may be required to provide adequate coverage.

Preferred Candidates: Graduate of an approved school of nursing with a
Masters degree in Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. (Will consider PA
graduates with a focus on acute care) Critical care/ER/Trauma background
Board certification or will obtain ASAP. Prescriptive privileges in
Indiana (DEA #) or willing to obtain. Trauma related certifications-
current; TNCC, ATCN, ACLS, PALS
