NURSE PRACTITIONER or PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT - Orthopedics

Oregon Health & Science University has an opening for a Nurse 
Practitioner (NP) or Physician
Assistant (PA) in Patient Care Services. This position reports to the 
nursing division director with
matrix reporting to the Chief of Orthopedics. The NP/PA in this 
position would practice with
physicians and residents on the Orthopedics, Neurosurgery Spine, and 
other surgical clinical
services admitting patients to the Orthopedics unit. Hours of work may vary.

This NP role responsibilities involve:
* Medically managing inpatients and observation patients on the 
inpatient Orthopedics unit.
* Promoting an integrated and interdisciplinary approach to patient care.
* Assuring effective and efficient patient flow and length of stay.
* Partnering on a daily basis with case managers on discharge 
planning in the Interdisciplinary
Care Coordination rounds.
* Educating patients and families throughout the stay and for 
discharge and discharging in a
timely manner.
* Adhering to best practice clinical protocols and guidelines to 
achieve optimal patient outcomes.
* Mentoring and supporting the direct care nursing staff.
* Actively contributes to and/or leads in improving the systems and 
processes of patient care. Is
highly engaged in the Orthopedics Best Practice Committee.

The successful candidate will hold either:
* A Masters degree in Nursing from an accredited program, a current 
Oregon NP license and
specialty certification. DEA certification, and a minimum of 3-5 
years clinical inpatient nursing
experience is required. Prefer NP experience and acute care NP.
* A Masters degree from accredited PA program, a current Oregon PA 
license with the Oregon
Board of Medical Examiners, and a DEA certification. Experience in a 
relevant health care-related
role is required. Prefer PA experience.

Additional requirements include: skilled in systems thinking and 
programatic development,
ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet required timeframes, 
ability to work as a team member
in an interdisciplianry setting, demonstration of effective 
communications in both verbal, written,
and electronic media, computer/word processing skills and consistent 
attendance at work.
Prefer quality improvement, EMR and Microsoft office suite experience.

Salary Range $81,900 - $97,500 depending on experience.
