*ARNP- Research Coordinator *

The Seattle Institute for Biomedical and Clinical Research (SIBCR) is 
looking for an
experienced and licensed Advance Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) 
Research
Coordinator to join our Diabetes Research team.

SIBCR (www.sibcr.org) serves our nation's Veterans through research and
education endeavors at both divisions of the VA Puget Sound Health Care 
System.
Our Mission is to improve the health and well-being of Veterans through 
research
and education conducted at the VA Puget Sound Health Care System. SIBCR is
dedicated to supporting their efforts by facilitating collaborative 
research projects
with other federal agencies, voluntary health organizations, non-profit 
professional
societies, academic institutions and for-profit companies.

The ARNP- Research Coordinator will coordinate clinical research studies 
at the
VA Puget Sound Health Care System. The ARNP Research Coordinator will have
responsibility for day-to-day clinical activities of studies, including 
subject
recruitment, participation and adherence to study protocol, performance 
of tests,
and in evaluating study outcomes. Prior research experience is helpful 
but not
required, at least 3 years of clinical experience is required. The ARNP 
will report
directly to the Director of the Diabetes Research Group and Principal 
Investigator
for the studies.

The successful candidate will be required to interact with all 
individuals involved in
the study, from research subjects, staff and faculty to study members 
from other
participating institutions. Therefore, the ability to collaborate with 
colleagues is
important. S/he will deal directly with study participants (by phone and 
in person),
administer questionnaires, obtain informed consent, and assist in 
handling case
management of research subjects. The incumbent will be required to 
participate in
local health fairs.

*Requirements:*
* Current Washington State ARNP license and driver's license.
* A minimum of 3 years of clinical experience
* Must have knowledge of Type 2 Diabetes and Pre-Diabetes and be able to
educate and medically monitor study participants in this area.

*Role and Responsibilities:*
The person in this position:
* Will be required to handle many of the day-to-day aspects of trial 
operations,
including determining eligibility; obtaining informed consent; and 
enrolling patients
in studies.
* Will conduct physical assessments and measurements related to study
protocols including but not limited to:
- Conduct history and physical exams and act on abnormalities as 
appropriate
- Perform and review EKG's and lab results
- Insertion of IV's and venipuncture
- Check vital signs
- Anthropometrics
- Insulin clamps, IVGTT, OGTT
* Must rigidly adhere to the study protocol and keep accurate records. 
S/he will be
responsible for collection of research data and maintaining an accurate 
record
keeping system for the duration of the studies. Thus, s/he should be highly
organized.
* Dispense and retrieve medication as a licensed health care practitioner;
maintain and monitor drug accountability records. Review and modify 
medication
schedules, as needed in accordance with study protocol and under the 
direction
of the study physicians.
* Familiarity with computers and programs such as Word, PowerPoint and 
Excel.
* Perform related clerical and other duties as required.
* The incumbent must be willing to work some flexible hours (some 
evenings and
weekends) to accommodate participant schedules and to participate in some
recruitment activities.
* Willingness to travel to and participate in local meetings and in-home 
visits. S/he
will be required to attend some national and local study meetings.
* Ability to lift 40 pounds

This is a full-time, fully benefited position. Salary DOE. SIBCR offers 
a generous
