Wyoming - Nurse Practitioner Position (posted) 04-24-14
==========================================================================
Position: #2110 Opening: Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor, Family
Nurse Practitioner
(FNP) program
Looking for an adventure? Looking for an opportunity to make a big
impact on rural health?
Consider Wyoming, the "Equality State" -- the 9th largest and least
populated state in the U.S.,
where health-related scholarship opportunities abound, and faculty can
impact clinical practice
and policy at the state level and beyond.
The Fay W. Whitney School of Nursing is seeking an innovative individual
to join our faculty.
Qualified applicants will have a doctoral degree in nursing or a related
field. The Doctor of
Nursing Practice (DNP) is preferred. If the doctorate is in a related
field, the applicant must
have a master's degree in nursing. The applicant must hold national
certification as nurse
practitioner (family nurse practitioner preferrred) and be eligible for
nurse practitioner
licensure in Wyoming. The applicant also must have evidence of clinical
scholarship trajectory
and at least 2 years of practice as a nurse practitioner in primary care
practice. Preference will
be given to applicants who have teaching experience related to primary
care practice.
This clinical track position will involve clinical scholarship,
on-campus teaching, online
teaching, advanced practice, and academic service. The successful
candidate will have a
background in clinical scholarship and be able to conduct practice-based
scholarship, ideally
focused on rural primary care. The faculty member will also advise DNP
students and provide
service to the school, college, university, state, and profession.
The Fay W. Whitney School of Nursing is CCNE accredited and offers both
undergraduate
and graduate programs, including a master's nurse educator program and a
DNP program.
All programs are focused on nursing roles critical to Wyoming and the
region. Our nurse
practitioner graduates serve in much needed primary care health settings
and many of the
counties in Wyoming are classified as health professions shortage areas.
The University of Wyoming is located in Laramie, a town of 30,000 in the
heart of the Rocky
Mountain West. Wyoming is investing in its university, helping to make
it a leader in academics,
research, and outreach. The university has state-of-the-art facilities
and is a cultural center for
the state. Located on a high plain between the Laramie and Snowy Range
mountains,
Laramie has more than 300 days of sunshine a year and is near year-round
outdoor activities
that include skiing, hiking, camping, bicycling, fishing and climbing.
The community provides
the advantages of a major university and a distinctive identity as an
important city in a frontier
state. Laramie is near many of Colorado's major cities and university
communities
(Fort Collins: 1 hour; Boulder: 1.5 hours; Denver: 2 hours; Colorado
Springs; 4 hours).
The University of Wyoming is an Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative
Action employer.
All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employkment
without regard to race,
color, religion, sex, national origin, disability or protected veteral
status or any other
characteristic protected by law and University policy. Please see
www.uwyo.edu/diversity/fairness <http://www.uwyo.edu/diversity/fairness>.
We conduct background investigations for all final candidates being
considered for
employment. Offers of employment are contingent upon the completion of
the background
check.
Review of applications will begin May, 22, 2014 and will continue until
the position is filled.
Interested individuals should submit a letter of application, curriculum
vitae, statement of
teaching and learning philosophy (1 page maximum), statement of clinical
scholarship
trajectory (1 page maximum), and contact information for three
