The Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care 
Medicine has an
outstanding opportunity for a full time Teaching Associate –(ARNP or 
PA-C, 100% FTE without
tenure) to join our Surgical ICU team at the University of Washington 
Medical Center (UWMC).

The SICU service is a multi-disciplinary team consisting of critical 
care physicians, dedicated
ICU nursing staff, ICU pharmacists, respiratory therapists, 
nutritionists, and physical/
occupational therapists. Advance practice providers (APP) participate in 
all aspects of surgical
critical care and have exposure to a wide variety of fields including 
general surgery, urology,
otolaryngology and neurosurgery as well as take leadership in 
transitions from the operating
room to the ICU. APPs on the SICU service are central to the function of 
this busy ICU team.
The role affords the opportunity to gain valuable experience in 
providing critical care services
and performing ICU procedures including the placement of arterial lines, 
central venous lines,
and pulmonary artery catheters.

In addition the candidate will be an integral faculty member of the 
Division of Pulmonary and
Critical Care Medicine, will participate in the education of nursing 
staff and residents, and will
help conduct QI activity.

*Minimum Qualifications: *
1. Current and valid WA state license as a Registered Nurse and ARNP 
Licensure or
certification as a Physician Assistant.
2. Graduate Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program or 
certification from an
accredited Physician Assistant Program.
3. Nationally certified ARNP with DEA and Prescriptive Authority if 
appropriate.
4. Proven excellence working in an interdisciplinary collaborative team 
environment
5. Effective interpersonal skills, leadership skills, and clinical 
expertise in the care of patients
with medical/surgical conditions requiring inpatient services.
6. Must be approved for faculty teaching associate appointment by the 
School of Medicine.

*Desired Qualifications: *
1. Two years of ICU experience
2. Surgical ICU experience
3. ACLS Certification
