The 49-bed NICU at UC Davis Medical Center Children's Hospital is a 
state-of-the-art intensive
care facility designed to address the needs of critically ill infants. 
The NICU is a tertiary/
quaternary care center for the Sacramento region and northern 
California. Many NICU patients
are transported from other institutions for our wide range of pediatric 
medical, surgical
subspecialists and ancillary services. The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit 
at UC Davis Medical
Center Children's Hospital is currently ranked 28th in the US News and 
World Report (2014).
In addition, the facility holds Magnet status.

The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, under the supervision of the attending 
Neonatologist and
Nurse Practitioner Supervisor, will provide independent advanced level 
clinical expertise to
medically fragile high-risk neonates from admission through discharge. 
Duties include
assessment, diagnoses and development of treatment plans for the 
neonatal population,
attendance and management of the neonate at high risk deliveries, 
performing multiple
procedures such as endotracheal intubations, lumbar puncture, chest tube 
insertions, etc. The
NNP is responsible for all aspects of assigned patient management, 
including
communication within a multidisciplinary team environment, patients and 
families as well as
community and referring physicians. The NNP acts as an expert resource 
person for the health
care providers, orients/precepts new nurse practitioners, provides 
supervision/direction to
residents and medical students rotating through the program, and 
conducts research and
teaching programs.Must possess a California RN/NP license, has or is 
eligible for a furnishing
license, must have graduated from an accredited school with a Master's 
degree in Nursing with
Neonatal Nurse Practitioner specialization (Doctorate degree preferred), 
and must hold current
CPR and NRP certification. A minimum of three years current experience 
as a NNP in a Level III
NICU is strongly preferred. Passing of UCDHS Performance Demonstrations, 
Policy review and
Medication Exam. Must be able to work variable shifts and take call.
