*Nurse Practitioner-Psychiatry*

The mission of Student Health Center is to provide physical, 
psychological, environmental and wellness services to North Carolina 
Agricultural and Technical State University students, facility, and 
staff. As a health organization operating with an academic institution, 
the Student Health Center is committed to the support of the 
educational, research and service mission of the University.

The primary purpose of this position is to provide psychiatric care to 
the students of the university community. This entails providing 
psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis and treatment of mental and emotional 
disorders, and medical assessments for students, as well as prescribing 
medications and monitoring their use in a therapeutic setting. Provide 
psychiatric emergency intervention as needed. Consult and collaborate 
with the clinical staff of The Counseling Center, as well as the Medical 
Clinic staff to provide appropriate, collaborative care for students. 
Facilitate the processing of both voluntary and involuntary 
hospitalizations. Become familiar with and utilize referral sources 
within the University and external community.

Minimum Experience/Education/Licensure

Licensed as a Registered Nurse by the North Carolina Board of Nursing, 
completion of a Nurse Practitioner program approved by the North 
Carolina Joint Subcommittee of the Board of Nursing and Board of Medical 
Examiners, and “approved to practice medical acts” by the Joint 
Subcommittee.

Licensure in the State of North Carolina as a (Psychiatric) Nurse 
Practitioner, Master’s Degree (required) with higher education 
preferred. Appropriate DEA license.

Prefer Clinical Nurse Specialist with seven to ten years of experience 
working with persons who have mental illness and/or substance abuse 
disorders, or a combination of licensure, education and experience. 
Ability to effectively perform essential job functions.
