*Required Qualifications:* Current NYS RN license. Master's degree in 
Nursing. NYS license as an adult and/or family nurse practitioner. Five 
years nursing, to include two years in medical oncology services.

*Preferred Qualifications:* Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certified. OCN/AOCN 
certifications. 2 years NP outpatient Oncology experience.

*Responsibilities & Requirements:* At Stony Brook Medicine, an Assistant 
Director of Nursing/Nurse Practitioner is a valuable member of our team 
who provides clinical services to out patient population. Qualified 
candidates will demonstrate superior patient care and possess 
outstanding communication skills while adhering to our high standard of 
excellence. Incumbent will be responsible for aiding in the clinical 
operations of the infusion center, including the coordination, 
evaluation and supervision of patient care the resolution of patient and 
family concerns in collaboration and communication with physician 
(oncology/hematology and other referring physicians to the infusion center.
* Appropriate history and physical examinations under the supervision of 
a medical oncologist.
* Establishes medical diagnoses, order and evaluates diagnostic studies. 
Prescribes and regulates medications; monitors therapeutic procedures.
* Manages follow-up care within the protocols and practice privileges 
approved by the supervising physician and consistent with established 
policies and procedures.
* Records and documents health appraisal data necessary to maintain, 
coordinate and/or expedite required services.
* Active involvement in clinical trial protocols including consenting 
patients to clinical studies and protocol related clinical and toxicity 
assessments.
* Assists in development of patient care standards/care maps related to 
the care of patients.
* Participates in quality improvement activities in order to evaluate 
patient outcomes.
* Defines quality/appropriateness indicators for monitoring clinical 
practice.
* Directly communicate patient's healthcare problems to other community 
agencies as appropriate.
* Acts as a clinical role model for staff and students.
* Provides clinical consultation to the community regarding care of 
patients.
* Provides clinical consultation relating to care of patients.
* Provides clinical consultation to the School of Nursing, SUNY, 
regarding care of oncology patients.
* Participate in quality improvement activities in order to evaluate 
patient outcomes.
* Provides care and support to patients and families throughout the 
course of the patient's illness, including survivorship, palliative and 
end of life care.
* Participates in the development and implementation of patient 
education programs.
* Responsible for triage and of patients and expedites patient 
facilitation to the cancer center.
* *Leadership:* Demonstrates leadership in professional responsibilities.
* *Educate-Training:* Contributes to the education advancement of nurses 
and medical students in outpatient clinical practice setting.
* *Research:* The participates in development of research studies and 
all aspects of new and ongoing Clinical Trials.
* *Self-Development:* Maintains clinical competence in areas of 
specialization.
* *Community Outreach:* Coordinate community outreach efforts for the 
breast care center as needed.

*Special Notes:* This is a non-tenure track position. FLSA Exempt 
position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal 
and external search to occur simultaneously. *Anticipated Start Date:* 
As soon as possible.
