Stony Brook University School of Medicine of the State University of New 
York invites applications for the position of Nurse Practitioner in the 
Department of Medicine.

*Required Qualifications:*
Current NYS RN license. Master's degree in Nursing. NYS license as an 
adult Nurse Practitioner.

*Preferred Qualifications:*
Additional years of related experience in inpatient internal medicine or 
outpatient internal medicine practice. Additional years related to the 
management of infectious diseases,

*Brief Description of Duties:*
Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior patient care and possess 
outstanding communication skills while adhering to our highest standard 
of excellence. The Nurse Practitioner will report to Dr. Fries in the 
Division of Infectious Diseases and be responsible for the following:
* Independently assess and evaluate new and follow up patients with 
complicated infectious diseases referred for outpatient antibiotic 
therapy (OPAT)
* Perform physical exams
* Prescribe, adjust and oversee antibiotic prescriptions
* Review, evaluate, and make recommendations regarding laboratory 
findings for patients
* Manage outpatient phones calls, pharmacy and home health agencies
* Work alongside Infectious Disease faculty and trainees
* Follow-up with patients regarding laboratory and radiology tests by 
telephone or in person
* Follow patients assigned to the OPAT inpatient service
* Follow patients in clinic who are discharged or intravenous antibiotics
* Oversee and assist with transition of care planning
* Demonstrate skills in collaboration, teamwork, organization and 
problem solving to achieve goals
* Document and update the EMR
