*Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care APRN’s*

Advocate Children’s Hospital/Medical Group seeks additional *Experienced 
Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care Nurse Practitioners* at the Oak Lawn 
campus. As we expand to a new 16 bed PCICU, we look to increase our 
talented team of full scope providers/APRNs to staff days and nights. We 
prefer candidates with MSN, Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification- 
however, candidates without Certification, will be considered and 
required to complete Certification within 2 years. We require experience 
pediatric ICU or pediatric cardiac care experience. The APRN is 
responsible for developing and implementing the plan of care, frequent 
assessments of patients, and managing the frequent changes in each patient.

- Procedures include: removal of central line, removal of Arterial 
lines, removal of pacing wires, removal of chest tubes, starting IV’s, 
venous draws, Insertion of central lines, insertion of Arterial lines, 
rewiring of lines, insertion of chest tubes, intubation, and extubation.
* Communicate with other teams: nursing, pain, palliative care, ST, PT, 
OT, care management, social service, discharge nurse, and any consulting 
teams
* Complete admission of surgical and cardiology patients
* Complete a comprehensive discharge summary or transfer summary on all 
patients
* Frequent communication with physicians on patient status
* Updates patients and families regarding the plan of care throughout 
the day and during times of acute change

Our ideal candidate will have cared for seriously ill cardiac infants, 
children and adults in a specialized Pediatric Cardiovascular Intensive 
Care Unit. Primary role will be to care for complex congenital heart 
patients including post-operative cardiac surgery patients and ECMO 
patients in concert with other specialists from multiple clinical areas.

Best Children’s Hospitals in the areas of cardiology and heart surgery.
