*Description*
Stony Brook University School of Medicine of the State University of New
York invites applications for the position of Nurse Practitioner in the
division of Pulmonary.
This position serves as a healthcare professional who, under the
direction and supervision of a licensed physician, will provide health
care to patients. The nurse practitioner is expected to maintain and
enhance a current level of knowledge relative to professional practice,
as well as meet the requirements necessary for licensure and
certification. The following duties will be expected:
* Collaborate with physicians throughout the consultation process and
provide direct medical management to patients in the Lung Cancer
Evaluation Center (LCEC).
* Serve as a resource to nursing staff and work closely with other
hospital/departmental staff, follow-up on patients' status independently
to ensure proper treatment.
* Keep all clinical data up-to-date in the medical record.
* Ensure daily charting of assessment and treatment is completed and
dictated timely.
* Communicate patient care issues clearly to the patient care team in a
way that is beneficial to the team effort.
* Quickly assist and appropriately mange emergency issues with LCEC
patients.
* Interpret policies to support decision making for other healthcare
professionals, attend continuing education seminars as needed.
* Other duties as assigned with may include collecting and reporting
research data for departmental research activities.
*Qualifications*
*Required Qualifications:*
Nurse Practitioner: NYS license and certification as a Nurse
Practitioner. Master’s degree in nursing or completion of a course for a
Nurse Practitioner.
*Preferred Qualifications:*
At least one year of clinical experience working as a Nurse
Practitioner. Previous experience working in oncology nursing.
Experience in lung cancer / pulmonary diseases.
