California. <br><br>
Nurse Practitioners – NICU, CVICU, Oncology</b> <br>
CHOC is currently seeking qualified Nurse Practitioners to work in their
NICU, CVICU, or <br>
Oncology departments. In this role, you will function in an advanced
practice role as a clinical <br>
expert in the management of pediatric patients within a family centered
care environment. You <br>
will plan, implement, and evaluate the plan of care for patients. Duties
include performing history <br>
and physical examinations, ordering and interpreting appropriate
diagnostic and laboratory tests, <br>
and furnishing of pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies in a
cost efficient manner. <br>
You will provide consultation and education to patients, families, and
members of the <br>
multi-disciplinary team. <br><br>
Qualifications include:</b> <br>
* Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with a MSN
<br>
* Current California RN license <br>
* Current Nurse Practitioner certification <br>
* PALS and BLS certification <br>
* At least three years experience as a pediatric RN <br><br>
About the NICU, CVICU, and Oncology departments at CHOC <br><br>
NICU</b> <br>
The NICU is a new/small baby unit staffed by specially trained
multi-disciplinary teams utilizing <br>
evidence based care guidelines. CHOC’s 42-bed NICU includes four
multi-patient rooms, six <br>
single care rooms, and a 2-bed Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO)
unit. This <br>
life-saving ECMO unit is the only one in Orange County. <br><br>
CVICU</b> <br>
CHOC’s 12-room CVICU is a designated area, which includes two fully
equipped procedure <br>
rooms that enables physicians to perform life-saving surgery on children
who otherwise could <br>
not be transported out of the unit. All of the CVICU rooms are outfitted
with leading-edge <br>
technology equal to the demands of monitoring children after complex
operations. The unit <br>
also features a satellite pharmacy, an onsite blood-gas lab for
respiratory therapy, and a family <br>
zone sponsored by the Ronald McDonald House. The family zone is a bright
airy waiting area <br>
with comfortable furnishings and a respite lounge for parents. Additional
amenities include <br>
private sleep alcoves, a kitchenette, shower facilities, internet access,
and a family consultation <br>
roomall just steps away from patient rooms, physicians, and staff.
<br><br>
Oncology</b> <br>
The Oncology unit at CHOC is staffed with nurses specially trained to
treat the complex <br>
conditions that accompany pediatric cancers. This 28-bed
Hematology/Oncology unit, and <br>
12-bed Oncology Intensive Care Unit (OICU) is the only dedicated
pediatric program in Orange<br>
County. As part of the CHOC Cancer Institute, this program offers the
latest in medical and <br>
surgical oncology including chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and blood/marrow
transplantation. <br>
This program brings together a full range of pediatric services and
multi-disciplinary care for <br>
our pediatric cancer patients and their families. <br><br>
