<font size=2>The Department of Pediatrics at The University of Texas
Health Science Center at San Antonio is <br>
recruiting for a nurse practitioner or physician assistant to join the
Pediatric Pulmonary Division. <br>
The faculty appointment will be at the instructor level. The division is
currently comprised of two <br>
fulltime pulmonologists and two nurse practitioners. Members of the
division run a pediatric <br>
sleep center; a Cystic Fibrosis Foundation accredited Cystic Fibrosis
Center, and are involved in <br>
the evaluation and treatment of children with complex chest and spinal
deformities at the <br>
Thoracic Institute at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Children’s Hospital. They
routinely treat children <br>
with asthma, chronic lung disease, sickle cell disease, congenital heart
disease, and those with <br>
tracheostomies and who require ventilatory support. Additionally, they
provide inpatient <br>
consultative and bronchoscopic services to University Hospital and
CHRISTUS Santa Rosa <br>
Children’s Hospital and receive outpatient referrals from all over South
Texas. The pulmonary <br>
clinic staff includes a full time RN, RMA and RRT and there is a fully
equipped pulmonary <br>
function lab. Members of the division are involved in the teaching of
medical students and <br>
pediatric residents from the UTHSCSA. <br><br>
Prior experience in pediatric pulmonary medicine is not necessary.
Members of the division <br>
will provide training related to the assessment and care of patients with
pulmonary diseases. <br>
Ultimately, the candidate will be expected to staff their own clinics and
assist with inpatient <br>
coverage with pulmonary attending backup. Opportunities to become
involved in clinical <br>
research and to become a certified asthma educator are available. All
