Surgery Nurse Practitioner (NP) team at Sentara Heart
Hospital (SHH) and <br>
Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital (SVBGH) is
responsible for the surgical and medical <br>
care of the pre-operative, hospitalized and post-discharged
surgical patient. The <br>
Cardiothoracic Surgery program is currently seeking a nurse
practitioner to lead patient care <br>
service operations for the Aortic Disease Program. </big></div>
<div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><big> </big></div>
<div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><big>The Aortic NP will
provide ongoing clinical inpatient and outpatient services
as well as the <br>
provision and management of the outpatient multidisciplinary
clinic. The goal of the program<br>
is to optimize the physical, psychological health and
well-being of the aortic patient population <br>
by facilitating efficient management of defined evidenced
based elements of pre-surgical <br>
care designed to prevent or mitigate post-operative
complications. Best practice initiatives, <br>
quality outcome improvements including customer service, and
further program development <br>
will be the expectation of the aortic NP role.<br>

<div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><big>Comprehensive duties
include investigation and evaluation of the defined elements
of care; <br>
identifying/coordinating pre-operative consultations;
ordering/interpreting preoperative <br>
testing/screening as well as prescribing appropriate medical
therapies and medications; <br>
and managing results/values as they relate to cardiac
surgery. The NP functions <br>
collaboratively with Cardiovascular Surgeons and Vascular
teams, as well as, referring <br>
Cardiology teams, consultant team(s), Primary Care teams,
and other multi-disciplinary <br>
teams as indicated to optimize patient care and outcomes.
The NP also provides ongoing <br>
patient/family education and communication potentially
identifying other healthcare needs or <br>
support services. </big></div>

<div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><big>Our ideal candidate will

creating an improved patient <br>

functions. Strong leadership skills <br>
will be highly valued as program developmental skills are a
