That is probably a good way to go. I just completed a post-masters certificate program in FNP. I aleady had my MS in nursing I am now studying and geting ready to take the boards. One thing our study group (all 3 of us) have determined, is that we really, strongly, wish we had additinal information, knowledge, education, etc on medications. In or training, both classroom & clinical rotations, had only brand names. We are finding all the prep material is in generic & chemical names only so we reall are struggling! So my advice to you is to really know the generics & the brands... Donna -- Life is the sum of all your choices. ~Albert Camus ---- Carolyn Gostkowski wrote: I am too. Message-ID: <17697675.1152717550390.JavaMail.root@web23> I did a dual track. I did my MS in nursing with a focus in education; which left only 5-classes left wich included 3-clinicals. I wanted a very well- rounded program so opted for that route. There are several in the college I went to that are now doing that program I opted for the family tract as I thought it would make me more marketable; I can take the exam and work in an ED (my 1st choice), office, geri, psych, ect..sort of like the family doc. I work with an NP who did have FNP and found herself in gero....easy change over. I also work with someone who got her NP in gero from Boston. She took the adult exam and the gero exam, passed both but an issue came up with the hours of school couldn't count towards both. Although she passed both exms, canonly get one license from the state. I took the Fitzgearld review course which was great! It really gave me a handle on what I need to focus on as I get ready for the exam. I graduated in May and have not submitted paperwork yet. I have a study group and we will probably sit in September. We want to go into it feeling at least a little more confident than we do now. It is amazing how much we now realize we don't know...Soak everything up that you can! What are you planning on doing with the adult; what area of practice?
