[NPInfo] NPs and PA residencies.

I did do extra hours in my program. We were required to find ALL of our
clinical placement sites on our own. A list of a few people in the
community who had previously precepted students was given out, but there
weren't many. This was in a town of about 150,000. It was murderously
difficult to find precepted clinical sites. Students would lie to each
other, "I heard Dr-so-and-so already has a student" and go after the
placement themselves because it was so difficult to find sites. We were
encourage to only use NP's as preceptors, but I was only able to find 1 NP
willing or able to precept me for a short peds rotation. I am not sure
about this, but PA's--did you have to find all of your own rotations? It is
little wonder that some of the rotations turn out to not be of high
quality--in some cases, I had to take what I could get--even if that meant
only being allowed to watch instead of manage.
