[NPInfo] An editorial From Dave

I have an additional comment that I would like to add to the brilliant Dr.
Fitzgerald’s comment below. I may be out of my mind with this idea also -
But, from a purely legal perspective are NPs legally authorized to practice
medicine. I know the NY State Education law states that PAs can practice
medicine under the supervision of a physician, blah, blah, blah – but I
don’t think NPs can practice “medicine” from a technical legal perspective.
I know you are all thinking I am out of my mind because we know what we do
with patients and we know how we deliver health care services. I think it
is technically phrased in the NY State Education Law that we NPs deliver
advanced practice nursing services (or something like that). I know this
may sound like a stupid question but does anyone know if it is illegal for
NPs to practice medicine (without a medical license)?

Hi- One more comment- we say we practice "medicine", the next comment is

then, "Where did you go to medical school?" Who wants that?

And the nation needs every single NP and PA who graduates.
