Dear Rose,
The NLN has a course that is online, basically a continuing ed thing. SUNY
@ Stony Brook is providing a CE course that is entitled "Certificate in
Teaching Clinical Nursing". It is four 8 hr days to the tune of 500 dollars, and
is not currently online, but the NLN course is.
In NY, there are alternate pathways to becoming a certified teacher, but it
seems like a cumbersome process. If you have a BS in Nursing, then you could
apply via an alternate pathway with the state and, after a certain number of
credits earned, you could progress towards NY State certification. And
teach health in the public schools?
I am under the impression that the DNP credential will be accepted as an
appropriate credential for those who teach Nursing. I'm sure other people could
give you a lot more info than me about that route.
