Medical librarians evaluating this site have all noted that it is not
accurate for medical translation. The best way to find health information
in other languages is to check the sites listed on the "Other languages"
page at http://nnlm.gov/outreach/consumer/multi.html - site includes a
search engine that searches across all sites listed.
For Russian, one of the listed sites is specific to diabetes.
Some of the sites, particularly Healthy Roads Media (multiple languages,
including some in Russian; these can be saved to disk) and the Medline Plus
tutorials (English and Spanish), include online multimedia where you don't
have to know the language to explain something. In addition, a qualified
interpreter should be able to translate English multimedia.
Hope this helps - Peg

In searching the web tonight for patient teaching information on Type 1 DM
for a Russian patient, I stumbled across a site that is very cool and easy
to use. there is a block for entering text in english, and then the option
to translate into a number of languages. I can envision being able to get
more accurate responses to my questions or teachings by translating
information on the spot during a visit (presuming a computer is available
with internet access.
check it out and see what you think....
