[NPInfo] very cool translation web site

I second that-- the translations can be very, very bad. They don't always
put things in proper sentence structure and grammar can be totally loused
up.
I once translated patient education information through one of these
translation programs and my bi-lingual staff laughed hysterically at the
ridiculous results... They weren't laughing later when I put THEM to work
translating it all <G>.

Just be careful when using the site. It often results in ridiculous
translations because of words with multiple meanings in English, e.g., back
(spine or behind), which translate differently depending on context.
Babelfish is not good in determining context, but instead translate word for
word.

In searching the web tonight for patient teaching information on Type 1 DM
for a Russian patient, I stumbled across a site that is very cool and easy
to use. there is a block for entering text in english, and then the option
to translate into a number of languages. I can envision being able to get
more accurate responses to my questions or teachings by translating
information on the spot during a visit (presuming a computer is available
with internet access.

check it out and see what you think....
