Have you tried the website? www.palm.com? Sounds like you're not a palm
reader -- sorry, know that was a low blow of a pun. Hope you're back in
"synch" in no time. I have found them very helpful in the past when I've
run into glitches. You'll be savvy in no time. Took me about 3 days and
had a similar experience of being in tears over it and feeling like a
PDA-losah but you'll get the hang of it. I'm so fortunate to have a teenage
geek son and hubby that get me out of my messes but you have Andy- - not too
shabby!!!

Eric--
The very first question it asked me was what I wanted to name my Email
program... I didn't know... did it need a name??? And I didn't know how to
get the name in their anyway even if I knew what to name it (as usual, being
totally self-absorbed, I was going to name it after me... would that have
been appropriate? What was the correct answer?). There was no keyboard, no
little alphabet anywhere... how was I supposed to type in my answer? That's
when I started crying <G>. See, it was little, basic, stupid things that
had me totally stumped and I couldn't get past them. This information isn't
in a manual somewhere? Someplace is there info on how to download programs
into the little thing. I mean, it's a cute little unit (and it looks real
sharp in the case I bought <G>) and I'm sure it would be real beneficial to
me, but it's not real user friendly for novices. Is there a "How to for
Dummies" book available for PDAs? Maybe I'll look around for one of those. I
need to know all the basics plus everything this particular unit can do...
ie. How do I go from one page to another without having to go to Home and
starting over each time? How do I use the wireless, Bluetooth or HiFi
features? Do I need additional accessories for those? Do I pay extra for the
service? How do I set up the program to get my Email? How do I get on-line?
I keep getting messages that I need to set these preferences but it doesn't
show me where to do these things. And what's the darn secret to putting on
the screen protector without all those little airbubbles and lines
underneath? I'm sure the answers to everything I need to know are on the
tutorial.... I would just rather be able to sit with a manual in one hand
while I go through the actual steps on the PDA with the other. Guess these
days you can't do that any more <sigh>. There... since starting this Email,
I've found how to access the keyboard (hit a button by mistake and it popped
out) and I've found my contact list. There's hope for me yet but there has
to be an easier and faster way of learning all this.

The manual wouldn't have helped. What kind of questions?

I received my Palm on Friday. I paid $230 (which included S&H) on Ebay and
then, of course, spent a lot more money on accessories for it <G>. I charged
the unit, set it, and now don't have a clue what to do with it... the darn
thing doesn't come with any instruction manual, although it does come with a
one-page set-up instruction sheet with big print and easy to understand
diagrams. You can the owner manual from the website-- all 600+ pages!!!
Friday night the thing started asking me questions and I didn't have a clue
what to do with it-- I not only didn't know the answers to the questions it
was asking me, I didn't know how to go about answering them in the first
place-- and there was no manual to refer to. I burst out in frustrated tears
and put the damn thing on the floor where it has been ever since. There is
an on-screen tutorial but I haven't the courage to go through it. I'm afraid
I'm old fashioned in that I want an instruction manual by my side when I'm
trying to figure something out. This might be a neat thing when someone
knows what they're doing with it but, right now, I'm pretty intimated by
it(actually, make that "scared stiff"). <sigh> Good luck-- and when you
figure out what to do with it, please let me know!

 Hey Dena, and others
Did anyone purchase/receive a PDA for Xmas?
|I just found the Palm TX on buydig.com for $254.00 free shipping, 3
|year
warranty for 39.99. I think that is the site Andy Recommended. I haven't
gone the next step though and added it to my cart, but I am soooo tempted.
What have others chosen and from where???
