[NPInfo] Call pay

When I worked the Jail we should have had call 1 week out of 4-5, and we 
did receive some pay for the time. The problem I found that being on 
call required them to page me for every inmate, both through booking and 
in the housing areas, that needed anything. My wife was ready to shoot 
my cell phone when it rang every hour. The only thing that was positive 
was that there were several nurses who I learned I could trust and they 
trusted me. So, unless it was urgent, or a major issue, they would save 
their calls to one or two times, and I would back them. It was an 
informal agreement, and we all benefited.

I also took call when I did IV Home Care, and the calls during the night 
were only a few a night, and sometimes none at all. But, the weekends 
were horrible, and you not only got calls all weekend long, but about a 
third required a visit. Then you had to do your normal week as well.

All I can say is that you could not pay me enough to take call again. 
The money is good, but the loss of sleep is not worth it, especially 
when you have to see pts the next day. I know people that like to take 
the call, but the money is not worth it, and it takes me at least a week 
or more to recover. Marty
