[NPInfo] BON visits- institutional dysfunction in N.C.

Actually, they are protecting us from surprise visits by the BOM investigators, and are try to assert autonomy over nurses--the docs hate this.  The BON can control the number of visits made per year now, and control for individual practice idiosynchronies, and make the visits known in advance. Of course, this is being done for public safety.!!!!!!!!!!

PHysician supervisory statutes are virtually identical for NP's and PA's.
The actual auditing (and potential disciplinary actions) is the function of
the NC Medical Board. There is a joint committee of the BON and the Medical
Board but it appears to me that our nursing members are ineffectual in
promoting our cause. So, the "they" in Paula's post is the medical board.
