I second the idea of an ACC action fund and a list "need/catastrophe" fund
are very good ideas. Would be happy to contribute to both, as well as to
you, Lynn, if resources can't keep up. I, too, appreciate the honesty and
integrity of those on the list who would jump in to help others here not
only with emotional and spiritual support, but also financial! Wow! That
says more about everyone here than anything else to date.

I actually agree that a fund for 'catastrophic events' we might encounter is
not a bad idea....and I would also like to see an NP/PA promotion fund
started for the ACC...members could vote y/n to a promotional plan - we
could have fund raisers if there was a particular promotional idea we wanted
to do...(yea, it is not a new idea but I really never saw anything come from
the last attempt...I have seen much more from the ACC on a very skinny
budget!)
I went to the Unemp and they said I had to be released for full time
employment in this state...I am hoping that it will be sooner rather than
later...fortunately, in spite of never having had much in the way of
financial teaching, I learned early on to spend less than we earn...it has
worked for me so far, so I do have a few resources.....but must admit I
would not have bought the new house if I had had a clue...
I just heard from another x-employee that she fired her office coordinator
yesterday. That leaves her with a part time biller, 2 MAs and a
receptionist/scheduler....she fired the Office Manager a while ago.....I my
have to get my unemployment quick before she goes down in bankruptcy
flames!!!!
Lynn
PS: In this area it is pretty common to be told that there may be random
drug testing...I just never cared because I don't do drugs so I was never
concerned.....

I agree Lynda with Dena. Give me an address, and I will send a bit of
money. We need to start a "list fund" just for these purposes, so we can dip
into it when someone needs help in emergency situations. I could get a bank
address and start one if people are interested.
Also, I dont know how it is in your state, but one of the questions
they ask for unemployement is "are you actively seeking work? Are you
physically able to work? If you were physically able to work part time (as
you had gone back to work) you can truthfully answer yes to this question,
and get your unemployment checks. In Oregon, this was only 445.00 a week,
but it helped. So normally you do not need a "note" saying you are
physically released. If you had not worked in two years and were not sure if
you could work that would be different, but you were already working. And
regarding random drug tests what is that about? Keeping your job with that
doctor? Did she tell you that, or did the unemployment office call and she
told them that? If that is the case she wants to make it look like you are
"refusing work" so she doesnt have to pay unemployement. She does not want
to have to pay it, and that is what she will have to do is pay part of it. I
think if "random
drug screens was not part of your original contract that you signed, she
cannot add it now as a stipulation. And you did not even have a contract.
Just say "yes" to everything at the unemployment office Lynda, or call them
on the phone. You will be telling the truth. Boy is she a piece of work. And
I agree coming to your home "after church" is horrible. Carla/Oregon

For goodness sakes, why did you have to do random drug tests... was that
your boss' idea??

Yes, I see people on it all the time...and there are my tax dollars paying
for it...but when one of us needs it, well, that is another story. I think
what really gets me is the fact that I have to agree to random drug
testing
to keep my job and that tax money can be diverted from my paycheck to
those
on welfare/etc that are doing drugs...how come they don't have to take
random drug tests to qualify to get the money that I earned???? What was
really funny was the lady helping me at the unemployment office...She just
kept saying "She came to your house?" "I can't believe she came to your
house". "Just came right into your house and told you this?"

Geez--- so terribly sorry-- it totally sucks to fall through each and
every crack! But, apparently, it happens much more than most people
realize-- unfortunately. How can you be too old for Medicaid?? What about
all the people in the country who are on both Medicaid and Medicare?
Tell you what-- send me a utility bill and I'll pay it for you. If
everyone on this list pays one bill a month for you, you could be okay for
a
long time!! LOL

I agree with both of you...I do not want that job back...(it ties with 1
other job as being the worst I have ever had..I quit that one) but I do
not
want this to reflect badly on me when I apply for other positions. I
understand that what she did was TACKY, as well as morally, ethically, and
professionally WRONG, but I am unsure if it is Legally Wrong. I have calls
into 2 employment attorneys now to try to get an answer to this question.
I
do not qualify for unemployment because I have not been released medically
to work full time. I can not get COBRA as you have to have 20 or more
employees to require this. I do not qualify for disability because in
Virginia you must be 100% disabled to qualify for anything. I am too old
for
medicaid and too young for social security. I am not sure how
understanding
the power company and mortgage company are going to be when I run out of
$$.
I will start sending out CV's and pounding the pavement but for today, I
have done all I can

She needs to check with HER state-- and
an attorney if she wants to fight this firing. Although, again, I think
Lynda needs to analyze what her goals are here-- getting her job back,
financial compensation, etc.
Agreed, Dena.
