[NPInfo] Mary Mundinger

Isn't the "DrNP" degree what Columbia (the University-- not the country <G>)
is calling their clinical doctorate degree??? See, already no one can come
to a consensus re: what the degree should be called!! Another thing to worry
about with the DNP degree is that some schools are opening it to not just
NPs but to all other "Advanced Practice Degree" nurses-- or basically any
nurse with a Masters degree. So, what started out as an entry level clinical
doctorate degree for NPs is already in danger of being bastardized. I've
even heard that some programs are talking about opening their DNP programs
to those with Masters degrees in other fields-- like those MSN programs that
take in anyone with a Bachelors in ANY field. Also, I now of at least one
school that is already thinking of a DNP-to-PhD program-- they are already
basically saying that the DNP will NOT ever be considered a terminal degree.

Such a crock!!!

I read the bios of the nurse practitioners who are with CAPNA. What is a
"DrNP" degree?
