Hi,
   
  This was regarding the new Dentyne Ice commercial ad. 
   
  I sent a letter in support of the nursing profession, and just explaining that the ad portrayed a negative sterotype. I do not have any problem with humor, but I do agree with others that the "nursing" sterotype of either being naughty or sexy, or dim, seems to get more media exposure than the professional aspects of nursing. I think that is why it is important to provide a  balanced representation, but obviously per the letter, the advertisers "approved" of us portrayed like this.. hmm  If enough of us created a stir, than maybe it would become media material, and it would be great to see on TV news  "Nurses protest against sexism in commercials, and a  breakthrough, a major Advertiser retracted or pulled their commercial due to public outrage.. "  that would be great to hear.  Carla/Oregon
