Actually Chris....this is a Calif law!! no drug can be on the $4 list if it actually costs the pharmacies more than that

our doc looked up Pravachol for hubby (no Medicare drug coverage)....he said it was on the $4 list at Target...went to Target...they showed me the list...Pravachol has an asterisk.....Target's price was $15 a month....so went to Costco...their price for Pravachol was 11.95 a month.....prior to this I had called Walmart for his Lisinopril (180 tabs which we split..so actually a year's worth)...Walmart quoted me $75.....Costco was $47 for same script!!!

next time I talked to his doc...I mentioned the Pravachol thing and Target's $4 list...he insisted it was on the list...I said.."check the list"....THEN he noticed the asterisk!! and replied....oh my...I have told lots of seniors about that...hopefully they will look around further like you did!!

not to mention that the closest WalMart is not too close ..and Costco is 2 miles....

Interestingly, after our discussion yesterday, I rechecked a pt last night
who had filled her Hctz. 12.5mg at Wal-Mart. It is on the $4 list for both
Target and Wal-Mart but with an asterisk next to it on the Wal-mart list.

Turns out Wal-mart charged her $9 for it. The pharmacist told her that their
$4 list is not actually $4 but ranges from $4 to $12. She said she saw a
commercial that says Wal-Mart will match anyones pharmacy prices and the
pharmacist said "that is not really true either -- only if our cost is less
".

Target however, has always been true to their word for my patients. And, no,
I have no vested interest in Target. So, yep, I still hate Wal-Mart!
