First of all, I wanted to praise Margaret Fitzgerald's Family Nurse
Practitioner certification review course (say that fast five times) and her wonderful
review book. I used both to assist my studies and passed easily this month.
I had purchased another review book (the guilty party shall not be named)
and found it to be so full of errors, I threw it away. But Margaret's text was
so helpful and her conference was fantastic. She is an amazing speaker.
Even if you never take one of her courses, do purchase some of her cd's...she
makes difficult subjects so much easier to learn and keeps up-to-date. Would
love to have 1/2 her energy and drive.
NOW...for the questions. I have been certified as Pediatric NP for 14
years. I decided to obtain my FNP as there are so many other employment options
and I need to move closer to my parents to assist them.
1) Would there be any reason I would want to hang on to the PNP
certification? Can't imagine I would, but want to be sure...
2) Do I need to notify the DEA of added certification? I will be staying
in the same state.
3) For fellow IL NP's, would I need to reapply for a new Illinois
Controlled Substance License?
I looked at the IL web site, but couldn't find an answer. I tried emailing,
but no response as of yet. I will call this week.
Thank you so much for any guidance.
Greta
