[NPInfo] AANP Recertification HELP!!

This is not a new problem. Unfortunately this organization does not
have a timely turn around either for the application and taking the exam
and sending the certification documents.

Jan, can you address why the whole process is so slow? Is there
something that the university can send to assist or speed the process?

Thanks. Denise

Subject: Re: [NPInfo] AANP Recertification HELP!!

Just to throw a little wrinkle into this: I certified as an adult NP
with both AANP and ANCC. Thank goodness I had both, because when my new
AANP card arrived after a ridiculous wait (the old cert was within a few
days of expiring by the time it came), it had me mis-identified
("certified") as an FNP! The state would not allow me to practice under
the wrong certification, even though I met criteria for re-certification
and the problem was through no fault of my own. If I'd not had the ANCC
certification, there would have been at least a two-week gap in my
ability to practice had I not had the other to "fall back on."

I would try whatever it takes to get to a human being at AANP. Try
googling an alternate phone number, or look at past correspondence for
an alternate phone number. I'm out of town right now, or I would look up
the number I called for you.

Best of luck to you,
Diane Dito
